This website is co-ordinated by organisations concerned about the market-distorting power of the major supermarkets. The information is intended for educational and public awareness purposes. The co-ordinating organisations  do so in their individual capacities and only in relation to their own particular areas of expertise, and are not responsible for materials produced and actions taken by other organisations.
The book " Tescopoly" by Andrew Simms has been written and published independently and is not endorsed by the Tescopoly Alliance. It should not be mistaken as an official publication of the Tescopoly Alliance and campaign.
Local campaigns against supermarkets

Increasing numbers of communities are taking action to oppose superstore developments in their area. Facing a complicated planning system and powerful opposition, this can seem a big task. This section aims to strengthen local campaigns.

Please see our local campaigns resources section for resources to help you campaign against a supermarket application and to find out more about the planning system.

The map below highlights a selection of past and present local supermarket campaigns. There are many more than are included here. The campaigns listed on this site are independent campaigns, organised by local people with genuine concerns about proposed new supermarket developments. The campaign case studies have, in many cases, been written by local campaigners. Tescopoly is a forum that aims to facilitate better communication and information sharing between local campaigners.

Please email us if you would like to tell us about what is happening in your area or get your campaign listed on this site.
