Campaigners in Galashiels protested against Tesco's plans to demolish an historic component of the townscape of Galashiels for a carpark for an extended supermarket. Tesco sought a judicial review to prevent the building's listing. Campaigners celebrated in June 2006 when Tesco offered to rebuild the building in a different location.

 

Jedburgh, The Scottish Borders

Traders in Jedburgh objected against plans from Sheppy Industries to erect a foodstore on the former Oregon Timber Frame company premises in Station Yard, Edinburgh Road concerned that it would draw shoppers away from the town centre.
