A campaign group in Fulham opposed Sainsbury's plan to build a mega supermarket on derelict land they own by the River Thames next door to a store they already have.

Shop owners and residents fear proposals to turn an empty pub into a supermarket will destroy their street. Tesco is consulting residents on proposals to turn the derelict Sparrow pub in Glengall Road in Edgware into a Tesco Express and flats.

Shoppers also expressed their opposition to the move, which they fear would create noise and too much traffic on already narrow roads.
