Although no application has been submitted Tesco has confirmed that it wants to open a store in Station Parade, Whitchurch Lane.

A local newsagent has launched a campaign against the plans.

An application for a Sainsbury's supermarket and 16 flats in Chase Side, Enfield has been submitted but faces local opposition amid concerns it would put small traders out of business. Over 50 people protested against this proposal outside the civic centre and over 400 names have been collected on a petition.
