In April 2014 the Discovery Park confirmed plans for a 30,000 sq ft Sainsbury’s supermarket and petrol station have been submitted to the council.

An application for an anonymous retail provision was submitted in September 2013.

 

Sevenoaks, Kent

In 2017 supermarket wars begun in Sevenoaks between Waitrose and Aldi. Waitrose objecting to a new Aldi being built in Sevenoaks – with fears it will destroy its business.

The discount shop chain submitted a planning application on June 20 to build a new store on Otford Road. But upmarket food retailer Waitrose submitted a letter of objection to the proposals on Monday (July 24).

Tesco owns 0.18 acres of land in London Road at the site of the former Bell Inn pub, but in order to open a superstore and close its smaller Express store, it needs the town council to agree to sell the Ridgeway Playing Fields.
