In December 2011, Tesco announced that it was seeking to build a new store on the outskirts of the seaside fishing port of Looe in Cornwall. Newquay Tretherras school is on the verge of selling its dilapidated junior side to Tesco, which incorporates the greenfield land at the top of Glamis Road, the Hexagon Theatre and Happy Days Nursery. Some residents living near Tretherras are angry the deal looks to be done and dusted without them being consulted.
