Sainsbury's wanted to enlarge the sales area of its Chester store from 3,133 sq m to 5,400 sq m, including a new mezzanine floor. The application was opposed by parish councillors and neighbours who were concerned about the extra traffic and its effect on Sainsbury's roundabout at the junction of the A41.
