Campaigning to curb supermarket power

Due to the ever increasing presence of supermarkets in the Wirral area which are threatening our local economy/community, a group of local traders have set up an action group called WASP (Wirral Against Supermarket Power).  A petition has already gathered 1,000 signatures.

Plans for a new retail development in Noctorum were rejected by Wirral's planning committee on 22nd June. Developer GL Hearn had applied for permission to build a 'retail unit' on the former Texaco garage site in Townfield Close. The planning committee rejected it on the grounds that it could affect the nearby post office and stores. There were also concerns over delivery wagons.
