Campaigning to curb supermarket power

Weston-super-Mare, Somerset

A campaign group " Save the Bristol House Inn " was set up to oppose plans to extend the pub adding a large single storey extension for a 'Functions Bar'. Campaigners argue that if this is agreed we will see the pub changed into a Tesco within 3-6 months because Enterprise plan to dispose of the pub and this is the only way Tesco will acquire it i.e. with additional space to fit their Express Store model - The Planning Application is a ploy to do this and we must play them at their own game i.e. Object to the plans.

Over 2,700 people have signed a petition against the plans.
