Campaigning to curb supermarket power

Thurso, Highland

After four years of sitting on land with planning permission for a supermarket, leaving the prominent town centre site with heaps of rubble, Tesco want to renew their planning permission. In November 2012 local councillors and the community council expressed their anger, especially given Tesco's failure over the years to respond to enquiries by Councillors and the local media.

Tesco finally agreed to meet local councillors, community council and hold a public meeting on 26/27 November 2012.
