Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire

In March 2013 Tesco announced plans to open a store in Overross Street. The plan is to build the 40,000 square-foot supermarket on eight acres of brownfield land that will take in the Broadmeadows Industrial Estate and land owned by Herefordshire Council.

Plans refused

Planning officers recommended refusal because the applicant “failed to demonstrate that the proposal would not have an adverse impact on the town centre”.

Town Council to reject Tesco plan

Ross Town Council intends to write to Herefordshire Council to recommend refusing the Tesco planning application to build a store in Ross. Cllr Jane Roberts said that they were objecting to the design and to the siting of the petrol station being unnecessarily close to residential developments.
