Campaigning to curb supermarket power

Reading, Berkshire

In late 2013 a campaign group "No to Cemetery Junction TESCO " was set up to oppose plans by Tesco to move into the Crown Colonnade. Please sign their petition here.

2008 - Reading Borough Council planning committee turned down proposals for signs and a cash machine outside the Crown Street building. Council planning officers recommended refusal for an ATM outside Tesco, deeming it a health hazard. They also had concerns as the proposal does not provide any dedicated parking spaces. At the end of September 2008 Tesco was given the green light to sell alcohol.
