Campaigning to curb supermarket power

Padiham, Lancashire

Traders in Padiham opposed plans for a 30,000 square feet Tesco store. The local traders association, Padiham Town Centre Partnership, set up a campaign to raise awareness about the plans.

However, Tesco appealed against the refusal decision and a public inquiry was held in July.

On 7th September, 2010 the Inspector published his report and granted Tesco permission to build the store. Read the appeal decision here.
