Campaigning to curb supermarket power

Linlithgow, West Lothian

The Linlithgow Against Supermarket Development group was set up to campaign against a 50,000 sq ft supermarket and hotel development proposed by Kensington and Edinburgh Estates on Blackness Road.

In December 2008, a new West Lothian Retail Capacity Study, carried out by the Halcrow Group for West Lothian Council, said that Linlithgow currently has ''adequate provision to meet local convenience shopping needs".
