Campaigning to curb supermarket power

King's Norton, Birmingham

Residents are fighting to stop Sainsbury's from opening a store on the edge of a conservation area in the car park of the Navigation Pub on the Kings Norton Green

Sainsbury's is now appealing against the refusal by taking the decision to the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG).

The public are being urged to register their opposition at a public meeting on February 11. Residents are concerned the plans will "cause congestion in an area which is already bad. It’s the main arterial road to the motorway. Also the traffic in terms of lorries travelling to the shop would cause problems when turning and parking."
