Hundreds of residents have bombarded planning officers with objections to a possible huge new commercial development in Up Hatherley. 299 comments were sent to the council about the proposed development by Hinton Properties (Grovefield Way).
It wants to build 12,000 square metres of office space, in two phases, with an Aldi supermarket, a nursery and a Costa coffee shop alongside.
An application for category B1 use, an office park, was given permission in outline. It was originally thrown out by the planning committee but it went to appeal and the Planning Inspectorate gave the permission.
The matter is not expected to come up for consideration by the council’s planning committee for two or three months.
