Tesco plans to build a multi-million pound new store at the site of the former Focus DIY store in Harborough.
Saying it has been unable to agree a final contract with the vendor.
The decision, announced in a letter to Harborough Council last week, seems to remove the last obstacle to the out-of-town superstore being built on land off Rockingham Road.
A trio of Harborough district councillors have now lodged an official request to the Government’s planning minister Eric Pickles to get him to intervene and review the decision.
