Campaigning to curb supermarket power

Aldeburgh, Suffolk

Tesco revealed plans in May 2012 to open a store on the derelict Crossways Garage site in Saxmundham Road, Aldeburgh - next door to the Co-op. The proposed scheme is for a Tesco Express that would measure 2,700 sq ft of retail space - around half the size of the neighbouring Co-op. A campaign group "Say No to Tesco in Aldeburgh - Keep Aldeburgh Special" was set up to oppose the plans.
